To the memory of the 40th anniversary of the conquest of the moon by Apollo 11 mission, Louis Vuitton specially invited three astronauts to perform its latest “Core Values” advertising campaigns— Sally Ride (America’s first woman in space), Jim Lovell(Commander of Apollo 13),Buzz Aldrin(the second man to set foot on the moon). And Mikhail Gorbachev, Catherine Deneuve and Keith Richards were also included. The advertising slogan is “Some Journeys Change Mankind Forever”. As captured by Annie Leibovitz with agency Ogilvy & Mather in charge of the ideas, it definitely brought the public a visual feast.

Shows the three astronauts are sitting together on a shabby truck, looking up at the night sky filled with twinkling stars. Their profound eyes seem to think something hard. Besides them, there are Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Travelling Bags of ICare series, from whose tag lines you could see the famous saying said by Neil Armstrong when he went to the moon in 1969– Some journeys change mankind forever. By the way, “Icare” travel bag named for Icarus, the hero of Greek mythology who dies when he flies too close to the sun. Therefore, their existence here is to suggest those legends also are dreaming that someday in the future they could make a space travel.
